Last year.....that makes sense. It seems like a big crop of rabbits this year. I have been out with a solo dog just behind the house every morning this week and they are thick. They get in the corn circle around and never come out unless they are headed for the neighbors shed.

Had another good run along the edge of a pond yesterday. Well it didn't start out that way when hound ran across a snapper on the dyke. A growl from the dog, a hiss from the turtle...lol. I hit his collar for a little discouragement. Finally got him away from the beast.

50 yards down the path we have a little depression that doesn't get mowed. Tail's a-going followed by some yips and in he goes. Took a while and yips turned into howls. The timing was bad, since the cops and city manager were looking at some freshly sprayed graffity on the bath house and dogs "should be on a leash".

I positioned myself at the shortest distance between the depression and the woods and sure enough here comes the bunny running like the ground's on fire. Good distance between him and the rabbit, perfect shooting opportunity!

In the woods he goes and the rabbit holed up in some brush. Here come the cops and the city manager. "Well, did he get him?"

Gotta love being established

I've run my 1 year old male a couple of times but it has been so hot I just do a little yard training with a drag rag soaked in rabbit scent. Plus I'm working with a 10 week old pup. Once the weather cools off a bit it's ON!
