*: You are on channel 1 with pinery, webmaster, marty.
*: pinery just melted into a meaningless puddle of ooze and is now gone.
marty: hi bo so web you got another big un tied up??
webmaster: That's what I thought. That you were going on the early hunt with your daughter.
webmaster: All the people are starting to file in now Marty.
BoHunter: howdy all!
webmaster: I hope that buck I got tied up, stays where I put him :)
marty: no she's only 12 was suppose to have a kid come over but he slept in instead of taken his hunter safety course
webmaster: Howdy Bo, you ready?
BoHunter: Always, just put it away for the night after some practice
marty: my daughter took her and scored better than the boys then a boy told her girls cant hunt she just laugh at him
BoHunter: Anyone else getting ready for the opener?
webmaster: I gotta get down the basement yet tonight and take a few shots.
marty: thats what we do when the weather is crappy got a bunch of rain last night but so windy today
webmaster: I finally got a broadhead, arrow match that I can live with.
BoHunter: I plan on headin' north for the weekend to do some scouting.
marty: suppose to get my camtrakker back had a prob with the circuit board in it
webmaster: Why don't they have the archery competition from the Olympics on during prime time?
marty: what kind of head did you settle on web??
BoHunter: Important. I broke down this year and bought a block for practice. Best investment I made this year.
marty: I bought one of those blocks pretty good little target
webmaster: The nuge blade, had to go to 2413's with 5 inch fletchings with a little more helical to get them to go where my field points do.
marty: where you headed for bo??
marty: I had two different heads I went back to my thunderheads they never have let me down
BoHunter: I finally got the bow tuned for field tips and broadheads
BoHunter: Grayling, just bought a little place outside of Grayling.
webmaster: I know somebody else who swears by thunderheads.
BoHunter: I have used thunderheads for some time now and they have not let me down.
BoHunter: Got a couple of nice does with them and last year took my first buck with my bow. They did the trick
marty: I had some jak hammers and they do blow a big hole in a deer but I once shot a deer where the thunderhead went right through the back bone and they stuck in the ground pulled it out sharpen it up and
marty: went again
webmaster: Can shoot the Nugent blade through a 55 gallon drum.
marty: well they are starting to bait again in 452 today seen a big trailer pulled into the gas stattion with beets and carrots
BoHunter: Jak hammers? Are those expandable? I haven't heard of them.
marty: yea made by wasp I think 36" thousand thickness more than a thunderhead
webmaster: What do you mean starting Marty? I didn't think they ever stopped.
BoHunter: Bait in 452?? I did not think that they were allowing it this year.
marty: not suppose to but they sure do sell a lot guess those guys are making their own sugar and a big stew
marty: most of them did but they will start now theres no way the dnr is ever going to stop it
webmaster: Not to mention the rest of the state if they outlaw it throughout the state.
*: a_ball4u just logged on to Jabber Chat.
*: a_ball4u just entered this channel.
marty: maybe on state land but not on private
marty: howdy ball
webmaster: Hello Aball
a_ball4u: hi
BoHunter: What is the penalty? Have any idea?
BoHunter: Howdy ball
marty: I think the fellow I talk too got a hundred dollar fine
webmaster: Slap on the wrist.
marty: yepper one of those rich hunt club dudes told them to make him a tab and he pay after the season
BoHunter: How does feeding blue jays differ from deer feeding/baiting
BoHunter: Those blue jays (and grouse) love corn.
marty: as long as the deer cant get to it I have a turkey feeder that works pretty well but you always get some corn on the ground
BoHunter: I decided to plant some "no-plow" this year. Has anyone used this before?
marty: not here but with all the rain we've been getting should do ok
BoHunter: Cost enough. I hope it does well.
marty: anyone ever tried mossy oaks bio-logic??
*: hambone just logged off.
BoHunter: No. Friends have used the Imperial Whitetail and have been very happy. So I stuck with that.
a_ball4u: What is so special about that stuff compared to ladino, whit dutch, etc. clovers?
marty: I planted a bunch of different stuff this year just to see what the like the best
BoHunter: According to the experts (???) the deer prefer a special blend of clover. I suspect the experts work for the Whitetail Institute.
marty: well a wildlife bioligist told me that that stuff is a rip off
a_ball4u: lol.... Just wondering. I assumed it'd be cheaper to buy it and mix it yourself.
BoHunter: What did the biologist suggest?
marty: I planted rape at 70 cents a pound and they deer tore it up
a_ball4u: I looked aty the ingreedients before, and that's basuicly what it is
BoHunter: What is rape??
a_ball4u: *basicly
marty: he told me fiels corn rye and winter wheat is good mix birdsfoot trefoil and ladino alsike and red clover is a good blend
marty: rape is from the brassica family its annual but is pretty drought resistaint
BoHunter: Thanks. I will think about itfor the spring planting. Is the stuff available from the local elevator?
a_ball4u: Has anyone had success woth field rye?
marty: yea any place that sells seed should have it or be able to get it
marty: I have a small patch of it ball the seem to be hitting now
a_ball4u: I've had people coming in to where I work and say they use it, but a majority use it for jst garden cover (field rye)
BoHunter: Sounds a lot cheaper than this other stuff.
*: moe_rm just logged on to Jabber Chat.
*: moe_rm just entered this channel.
a_ball4u: I think i may give it a try next year.
moe_rm: hi everyone!
BoHunter: Howdy

moe_rm: cool, Muzzy is flying a little better for me than thunderheads
moe_rm: o yeah!
moe_rm: been seeing a BIG 12 and have saw 3 10s and about 5 8s and a bunch of smaller ones
marty: I found a couple nice rubs the other day on my place hopefully I'll get a chance to see the big boy who made it
marty: thats right rub it in
moe_rm: i'm just goin after my first deer still though
marty: great hope you get the big one
BoHunter: I haven't seen any rubs yet. But lots of other sign.
moe_rm: i haven't saw any rubs yet either
BoHunter: I don't think that I can count that high when it comes to bowhunting those deer.
marty: as cold as it was today I think winter is going to make an early arrival this year
*: You are on channel 1 with marty, BoHunter, moe_rm.
moe_rm: i sure hope it does marty
moe_rm: i like bowhunting in cold weather!
BoHunter: i sure hope so. I don't want opening day to be 75 again. Where is your place marty?
marty: we really need snow for the lakes and rivers hope its not to bad on the deer herd though
webmaster: Ok I'm back, my bow is still shooting bullet points through paper.
webmaster: Life is good.
marty: I'm in greenbush just pass oscoda on the shore on lake huron
BoHunter: Always with bow in hand and hitting bullet points.
marty: makes you feel good when that happens doesn't it web
moe_rm: hey Web how much do those new stabalizers really help?
BoHunter: Nice area. I looked there when I was buying property.
webmaster: Did you guys hear that Anderson archery might be closing?
marty: yea the property up here has really gone through the roof
BoHunter: really? Too much competition from these other outdoor stores?
marty: why are they closing always though they did real well
webmaster: Moe, I don't know how much the stabilizer eliminates bow torque but I can tell you it eliminates vibration and sound.
moe_rm: if my dad will take me tomorrow i'm gonna try shooting one on my bow
moe_rm: i don't have trouble with torque
webmaster: Don't know, I just heard they were really selling stuff at close out prices.
BoHunter: the prices are incredible in this state. I wanted to be about 3 hours from home. plan on spening about $1500-$2k an acre. Ouch.
marty: I seen a paper the other day 10 acres 45.000
BoHunter: what kinda stabilizer, web?
webmaster: At least Bo, I'
webmaster: I've seen them go from $1000 per acre to more than $2500 by Manistee.
BoHunter: thia is the big one elizabeth...$4500 per acre?.cry
BoHunter: Guy that wqorks for me is part owner of 960 near Alpena. Those days are over.
marty: yea thats crazy They must have gold in them there hills
BoHunter: However he says there is a 760 for sale. Can't imagine the cost.
webmaster: Well hello Boehr how are you?
marty: I seen a realator today told me I can triple my money right now if I break up mine into ten or five acre parcles
moe_rm: hi Boehr!
BoHunter: Howdy boerh
webmaster: Way over a million $
boehr: Good, cool nights no so hot during the day, it's time
marty: yep easy monthly payments for your whole life howdy boehr
webmaster: It's definitely in the air.
BoHunter: Soon there will be no 40's left the way people are buying anfd breaking
BoHunter: birdman how ya doin'?
marty: yea this place I'm looking at butts up to mine but I got to decide on a tractor or this property
boehr: Hey birdman
webmaster: Yes mostly 20
webmaster: 20s and 10s already.
BoHunter: Both? It's only money.
boehr: And it's even football season to boot!
*: birdman just logged off.
webmaster: Marty the tractor will lose value, the land is like gold.
BoHunter: I am looking for an 80 now that I have a small place and it is hard to find.
marty: hey did you all hear another positive cattle herd in alcona county
webmaster: Guess birdman didn't see anybody he wanted to talk to...
webmaster: I'd be happy to get 10 acres somewhere.
marty: yea I know web just so hard to get anyone over here to do anywork guess I'll have to hit the lottery
BoHunter: I just bought 13 this year with a cozy cabin. It cures all of my woes.
marty: thers a eighty down from me with an old house 275.000 and its yours
webmaster: Boehr, didn't mean to argue with you on the forums, but I think its just the situation that CO's find themselves in that make people think they have more power than regular law officers.
webmaster: Where did you buy it at BO?
webmaster: $275,000 that's unbelievable.
BoHunter: East of Grayling.
marty: yea bo makes it nice when its yours doesn't it
boehr: web, I didn't think we were arguing, it's is what most people, including some CO's for a long time, that's what they thought
BoHunter: marty is that Lira?? can't be US greenbacks.
webmaster: I tell you one that's even more unbelievabe. There is a $10 acre plot right on M55 by Wellston the the corner of another busy road and with the easements to both its really only 7 acres. They want
marty: I tried to buy the back fourty and she wont break it up thats probably why she hasn't sold it yet
webmaster: $35,000 for it because it backs to federal land.
marty: I know where thers a ten right down from me that butts up to federal land for twenty right now
boehr: 35 for 40 doesn't sound too bad
marty: nope bo dats them dead presidents
webmaster: It's only for $10 acres (actually less) Boehr.
BoHunter: Lordy...
webmaster: I get the feeling that in a few years I will be priced out of the market.
marty: and the sad part is she will probably get it in time
a_ball4u: hi. I'm back
moe_rm: wb a_ball
BoHunter: My kids will have to take a 60 year mortgage to buy property
boehr: Hi a_ball4u
BoHunter: Welcome back
boehr: Antbody doing anthing on grouse?
a_ball4u: Another cattle herd was found with TB. Somewhere NE I think. (Just heard from Michigan Out of Doors)
marty: I told my kids they could do with my place whatever they want with it when I'm dead and gone
marty: alcona county ball
BoHunter: saw a dozen this weekend. Of course my gun was in the case. the kids thought the birds were cool.
webmaster: I'm sure they could find TB in every county if they looked hard enough.
a_ball4u: ???
a_ball4u: Not sure
a_ball4u: it was kinda brief, and i wasn't paying much attention
a_ball4u: Yeah, but this was in cattle
BoHunter: The answer is simple. Stop baiting the cattle.
marty: well guess they'll keep on the slaughter
webmaster: Marty, aren't you seeing more and nicer bucks?
*: You are on channel 1 with marty, BoHunter, moe_rm, boehr, a_ball4u, Mr.Ed.
boehr: Hi Mr Ed
a_ball4u: Hi, Mr. ED
moe_rm: hey Mr. Ed!
Mr.Ed: How is everyone tonight?
a_ball4u: good
marty: not really I see a few but mostly at night
a_ball4u: U?
Mr.Ed: Doin' good. Counting down the days.
moe_rm: well everyone i've gotta go
marty: the sad part is they will keep shooting everything they can and it will hurtus more in the long run
marty: good luck this weekend moe
BoHunter: Later...moe_rm
a_ball4u: hehe... Just tommorrow, and then It's game time for me
Mr.Ed: Later Moe
boehr: see ya moe_rm
a_ball4u: bye moe
moe_rm: thanx marty
moe_rm: later Bo
webmaster: Yeah and the people who shoot 10 does on unlimited permits are the same ones complaining that they don't see any deer in their area.
moe_rm: later Mr. Ed
marty: get a big one
Mr.Ed: Won't get to hunt until the 21st of Oct.
moe_rm: cya boehr
moe_rm: cya a_ball and good luck to ya this weekend
a_ball4u: Anyone know how the deer got TB in the first place? Was it from cattle origionaly/
marty: thats what happen here they fellows down the road shot 13 deer
a_ball4u: thx. moe
*: moe_rm just logged off.
webmaster: So Boehr, if I have a small game lisence and take my bow and target out in the State Park near me where hunting is allowed to practice with my broadheads I am legal right?
boehr: that's the million dollar question, where the TB come from
BoHunter: who can use 13 deer? I don't have a freezer that big
Mr.Ed: And how to get rid of it.
boehr: yes your legal
Mr.Ed: If it can be eradicated.
marty: I dont think anyone knows where it came from a lot of people think its been here all the time
a_ball4u: I've known to eat a lot. but 13 is a bunch
webmaster: Don't know if they will ever figure out where it came from but I'll bet they could find it in every county if they looked hard enough. Probably in other states too.
a_ball4u: It probably has, but why the sudden outbreak???
Mr.Ed: I think other states would find it if they tested like MI does.
boehr: I agree web
a_ball4u: Or at least so noticeable?
marty: I dont know what he did with them
marty: he was so happy he shot mama and then killed the fawns while they were beside her big hunter right??
webmaster: brb guys.
*: Chad1 just melted into a meaningless puddle of ooze and is now gone.
a_ball4u: Boehr: How do you "legaly" tag a doe????
a_ball4u: I've seen it done through the leg, and ear
a_ball4u: which ones right?
boehr: Legally to the lower jaw or lower leg
boehr: A buck can be the above or antler
a_ball4u: I'll go with leg then (assuming I get one)
boehr: Page 12 in the digest also states how
a_ball4u: And just to double check, I just notch all that appliesoi the liscense
marty: Would a fellow get into troubl if he punch a hole in her ear and took a piece of string and wrap it around the tag??
boehr: Correct
*: northbound just logged on to Jabber Chat.
a_ball4u: How close do i have to be to my dad?
marty: howdy north what did you do web change your aftershave??
a_ball4u: (during the hunt) to be concidered supervised
boehr: I wouldn't have a problem with that overall depending on the circumstances, Iv'e had a guy, when we had backtags try to stick his backtag through the ear in the car when I stopped him
BoHunter: Got to run. It has been enlightening. Good luck everyone with whatever your outdoor pleasure is.
marty: have a good un bo good luck
boehr: You have to be close enough to dad so that dad can give direction to you if needed
Mr.Ed: got to go guys later and good luck.
*: Mr.Ed just logged off.
*: BoHunter just logged off.
a_ball4u: We may be a bout 30 feet away (we have a ground blind, but might switch to 2 treestands)
boehr: Dad has to be able to see you, what you are shooting at, and be able to tell you not to shoot if needed
boehr: I would say 30 feet is fine
*: You are on channel 1 with marty, boehr, a_ball4u, northbound.
a_ball4u: last question directed to you today, I promise:
boehr: I would say in most conditions, 100 feet would be fine
webmaster: So did anybody see any of the archery from the Olympics?
marty: well all got to hit the rack old age is catching up with me Good luck to all if I dont yak at you next week and please remember to wear a safety harness good night to all
boehr: take care marty
*: marty just logged off.
webmaster: Best of luck to ya Marty.
a_ball4u: How is it legal to travel with a deer? I'm worried about every cop in town seeing a deet on the hood of the car, and thinking i hunted out of season
boehr: Ask all the questions you want, better now than finding out the hard way:)
a_ball4u: *deer
a_ball4u: lol
a_ball4u: so true
*: northbound just melted into a meaningless puddle of ooze and is now gone.
webmaster: What distance do they shoot at? 60 or 90 yards? That's nuts.
webmaster: Boehr, I have a good one for you. Can you hunt turkey from a treestand as long as you are not using bait and have a turkey permit?
boehr: As long as you have it tagged or, this time of year, a car deer permit, you can transport it any way you want
boehr: With a bow only, raised platforms for firearms are deer and bear only
a_ball4u: k. Thx. i once heard it had to be visible, but aI'd rather just bring it to the butcher in the trunk
webmaster: So turkey from a treestand with a bow can be legal? I didn't know there was a distinction between bow and firearms as far as that goes.
boehr: No it doesn't have to be visable in Michigan, Wisconsin might be that way
webmaster: Got another one for you, say you take a nice buck and want to get it mounted. You take it to the processor and they give you the cape. Does it still have to have the tag on the antler at that point?
boehr: When the law was passed for firearms from a tree stand that was the way it was passed, bear & deer. As far as turkey from a tree stand it has always been legal with a bow
webmaster: At what point can you take the tag off?
boehr: Once the processing has started, it no long has to have a tag on the animal
a_ball4u: Boehr is Dr. popularity here tonight! :)
webmaster: So if you process your deer yourself and you start on it you can immediately remove the tag once you start processing?
boehr: When I was a CO I use to do this all the time in person at sportsman clubs, now I a Lt, I miss it
webmaster: Well you can still do it here. I'm sure there is no end to the questions.
webmaster: Got another question for you too......
boehr: If you have your deer in your garage or on the buck pole at camp and you start cutting it up the tag can be removed
a_ball4u: I got to go finish my homework and study for tomorrow. Thx for all the help. It's great to know someone from the DNR.
webmaster: Ok, say I'm bowhunting from a raised stand over bait and a partridge comes in. Is it legal to take it?
a_ball4u: Now I can say I got connections!
boehr: I wouldn't try doing it right after you shot it in the field though and try to get the CO to buy the story that you started processing it in the woods
webmaster: Later
a_ball4u: Bye!
*: a_ball4u just logged off.
*: glancingblow just logged on to Jabber Chat.
webmaster: Yeah, Boehr I wondered about where the line is with that one.
boehr: As long as you have a small game license you can shoot the grouse
boehr: Hi glancingblow :)
glancingblow: hello
webmaster: Right, now I would need a fur harvester license to shoot a racoon?
webmaster: Hello glancing.
boehr: The Co might buy the story in the woods if you have wrapping paper and have punched you tag :)
boehr: Yes for the coon
webmaster: Have there been any thoughts on changing the racoon to be taken with a small game due to the possibility of rabies spreading amoung them and their over-population in many areas?
boehr: Not that I've heard but I suppose it would be possible at some point
webmaster: One more thing Boehr if you don't mind....
boehr: Go ahead
webmaster: Coyote hunting at night with a bow. It is legal as long as I have a wounded game call or equivalent in my hand right, with a small game license.
webmaster: Which means I can use site light and artificial light on my target?
webmaster: Like one of those lights that screw into your stabilizer hole on your bow?
boehr: True, changed this year but the change is a small change. Coyote hunting at night is pretty fun and the only way unless you have dogs during the day
boehr: Light at the point of kill
webmaster: What exactly did change with that law this year?
webmaster: Meaning I can only turn the light on when I go to shoot?
boehr: Laser light, hand held light, whatever
boehr: The bow part
webmaster: You can keep the light on, or only turn it on when you go to shoot?
boehr: Right, just like hunting coons with a light, difference with coons is you have to have a dog
boehr: You can not keep the light on, only when you shoot
webmaster: So leave it off until you think the coyote is within range?
webmaster: Ok,
webmaster: Well thanks for answering all the questions I and everyone else had.
webmaster: I gotta get to work early so I think I'm going to run.
boehr: Best way for coyotes at night is in a open field, with a call, full moon with snow on the ground, sit against a telephone pole wrapped in a white sheet
webmaster: Thanks again.
webmaster: Why the white sheet?
boehr: Take care web and everyone, I gots to go too
boehr: Camo with the snow
webmaster: Later Boehr thanks!
